New York Post Tour

Rockefeller Center Tour

"Amazing Art and Architecture by Some of the Finest American Artists of the 20th Century!"

Rockefeller Center is like no other structure in New York City. While Top of the Rock is known for amazing bird’s eye views of Manhattan, it would be a shame to bypass all the breathtaking pre-War American art on your way to the top. Book a tour of Rockefeller Center and learn about the rich history of this beloved landmark, first envisioned by John D. Rockefeller Jr. to be the city’s foremost cultural center over 80 years ago.
  • The gleaming Prometheus by American sculptor Paul Manship overlooks New York’s most famous skating rink in the winter (and an outdoor bar in the warmer months).
  • Located in the lobby of 30 Rockefeller Plaza, Josep Maria Sert’s “American Progress,” a huge fresco-style mural that depicts the founding of the United States.
  • A dozen pieces by sculptor Lee Lawrie, including the heroic 45-foot-tall bronze Atlas sculpture on 5th Avenue and the stunning frieze “Wisdom” above the entrance to 30 Rockefeller Plaza.
  • Incredible bas relief sculptures on the exteriors of the many buildings, including the nine-ton stainless steel “News” by Isamu Noguchi on the 50 Rockefeller Plaza.
  • The tour is approximately an hour and 15 minutes long. Tour groups are kept small so there’s plenty of opportunities to ask your guide questions. Closed circuit headsets mean you won’t miss a word of your expert guide’s commentary.
  • Rockefeller Center is made up of 19 buildings, and depending on the time of day, you will visit many of them — so expect to walk a lot on this tour.
  • There are plenty of great places to eat and shop after your tour on the concourse level of 30 Rockefeller Plaza.
  • Wear comfortable shoes and weather-appropriate clothing because you’ll be walking a lot, and not just indoors. Umbrellas will be provided if it rains.
  • While you don’t have to go through the same security check required for Top of the Rock, remember you will have to carry your belongings for the duration of the tour, so it may be best to leave any big bags at home or in your hotel.
