City Food Tours - NoLita: Eat a Bite of Ethnic NY

"A Crash Course in the Culinary Delights of NoLita — Manhattan’s Hottest Neighborhood!"

Ask any New Yorker and they’ll tell you that the best eats in NYC are found in NoLita. Bordered by Little Italy, Chinatown and SoHo, NoLita’s eateries and gourmet grocery shops offer foodies only the finest, from savory French cuisine and Spanish tapas to New York cheesecake and pizza. And this two-hour walking tour by City Food Tours features more than just good food: guides are well-versed in the area’s history as home to the Italian immigrant community in the 19th century — as well as being a mafia hotspot.

  • The food, of course! Daily tastings may vary, but the quality is always the same: whether it’s Italian meats and cheeses, Vietnamese Banh Mi sandwiches or handmade candy, these bites are the best!
  • Sheer variety: of course Italian food is on the itinerary (how could it not be when NoLita is home to Lombardi’s, the oldest pizzeria in the U.S., established in 1905), but you’ll also get the chance to try savory foods from around the world, including Mexico, China, Israel, Vietnam and France.
  • You’ll do more than just taste on this tour. Chefs and purveyors will be on hand at a number of locations to teach you how their food is made and how best to enjoy it. Don’t be afraid to ask questions!
  • The Eat a Bite of Ethnic NY Tour is two hours long and travels an easy 1/2-mile-long route on flat terrain.
  • Tasting stops may vary depending on the day of the week.
  • This tour is suitable for kids aged 8 and up.
  • You’ll need to bring along your printed voucher(s), as well as photo identification to the departure location (see below) at least 10 minutes prior to your scheduled departure time.
  • Beverages will be provided at a number of stops, but tour guides recommend bringing along a bottle of water.
  • Tours operate rain or shine, so dress for the weather!
  • Don’t forget to tell your tour guide if you have any food allergies or dietary restrictions. City Food Tours assures customers they will do everything they can to arrange substitutes (but if you need to skip the food at one stop, they'll get you get an extra sample at the next one).
  • Please note that not all stops on the tour are wheelchair accessible.
  • It’s customary to tip your tour guide 15-20% in cash at the end of the tour.
