Motown - The Musical

"Nominated for Four Tony Awards, including Best Featured Actor & Best Lead Actress"

The music of an entire generation comes to life in Motown: The Musical as it makes its Broadway debut at the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre. BestofNewYork.com has great tickets available for a production detailing how American culture was changed forever. Motown: The Musical charts the journey of Berry Gordy from his days as a featherweight boxer to a music mogul that launched the careers of Michael Jackson, Smokey Robinson, Diana Ross, Marvin Gaye, Gladys Knight and many more. It’s a New York production about shattering barriers and helping everyone move to the same beat as you make your dreams a reality.
Motown: The Musical has a pedigree that most other musicals in New York City simply don’t boast. The book is written by Berry Gordy himself, so you know you’ll be experiencing his life play out on stage. The tunes of Diana Ross and The Supremes, The Jackson 5, The Four Tops, Marvin Gaye and more will make it easy to get your toes tapping. Tony Award nominee Brandon Victor Dixon (The Color Purple) brings Gordy to life on stage and Charles Randolph-Wright (Blue) deftly directs. From the story to the music, this is a NYC show that everyone in the family is sure to love with tickets at special prices from BestofNewYork.com.

The story and music are the lifeblood behind any great Broadway production. But when you get a story from the man who that created a sound that touched millions of lives with the actual songs, you have a show that can’t be compared with anything on the Great White Way that you can see for less with tickets from BestofNewYork.com. This triumphant tale was destined to come to Broadway in a show the whole family can enjoy. The grownups will marvel at the relationships and struggles it took to start the label in 1959 while the kids enjoy the dance numbers and music that harken back to a time of innocence and transformation.
  • Motown: The Musical does not currently have a running time.
  • Children of any age must have a ticket for the performance.

  • This may be one of the larger theatres on Broadway with 1,505 seats, but each seat has great sightlines and feels close to the stage.
  • There are wheelchair accessible seats available in the orchestra section, with handicapped restrooms on the first floor of the building.
  • Sound enhancement devices are available free of charge with a valid photo ID as a deposit.
