To really appreciate New York City, you’ve got to get up high. From the Top of the Rock’s three observation decks 850 feet above Manhattan’s famed 5th Avenue, visitors get a bird’s eye view of the city’s most iconic landmarks: Central Park, the Empire State Building and the Brooklyn Bridge, just to name a few. If you don’t have a camera, you better buy one in the gift shop because you won’t want to forget the view from “30 Rock.” 
  • Outdoor terraces on the 67th and 69th floors feature fully transparent safety glass, while the 70th floor has completely open-air 360-degree views of New York City. 
  • A few quarters will get you an even better view through the high-powered binoculars on the observation decks. If the view doesn’t take your breath away, the exhilarating ride in one of the glass-topped Sky Shuttle elevators will.
  • The spectacular “Joie” chandelier, crafted especially for Top of the Rock out of 14,000 crystals by Swarovski, illuminates three floors over the Grand Atrium Lobby.
  • You can stay as long as you want at Top of the Rock’s 55,000 square feet of observation decks. (The average stay is about 45 minutes to an hour.) So come prepared with appropriate clothing for the weather if you want to venture out on the open-air decks. Of course you can always choose to enjoy the views from the cozy comfort of the indoor space regardless of the weather. 
  • Learn more about the historic Art Deco 30 Rockefeller Plaza while you’re there by tuning into the official Top of the Rock podcast audio tour. 
  • While there aren’t any restaurants or bars at Top of the Rock, there are plenty of great places to eat and shop on the concourse level of 30 Rockefeller Plaza. Top of the Rock also overlooks New York’s most famous Christmas tree and skating rink, so if you visit during the holidays, make sure to do a few turns around the ice while you’re here.

  • All visitors must have their bags scanned and pass through a security checkpoint before entering the Top of the Rock. Cameras are allowed, but tripods and professional video cameras are prohibited. Among the items prohibited on the observations decks are weapons, lighters, glass bottles and flammable substances. 
  • Children age 5 and under are free and strollers are permitted, though they must be collapsable. Top of the Rock is wheelchair accessible. Some areas of outdoor observation decks may be closed in inclement weather.  
  • MUST BRING PRINTED VOUCHER TO THE TOP OF THE ROCK OBSERVATION DECK ON THE DAY OF YOUR VISIT.
