Bodies: The Exhibition

"The Most Amazing Anatomy Lesson You’ll Ever Experience!"

If you've ever wondered just how long your intestines are, or would like to see what a smoker's lungs really look like, the captivating displays at Bodies the Exhibit NYC are sure to amaze you. Featuring over 200 specimens - both whole bodies and individual organs, Bodies The Exhibition offers a once-in-a-lifetime chance to better understand the complex systems inside the human body. As the exhibition's chief medical director, Dr. Roy Glover,  says: "seeing promotes understanding, and understanding promotes the most practical kind of body education possible. The body doesn't lie!"

  • Actual three-dimensional bodies, preserved in plastic and displayed in athletic poses that illustrate the muscular system.
  • Nine galleries that reveal intimate details of the body's various systems, including the skeletal system, nervous system, reproductive system and digestive system.
  • You may just quit smoking on the spot after seeing a blackened cancerous lung caused by smoking (there's a bin near the display where you can toss your cigarettes).
  • You may also be inspired to consider your own health more carefully after seeing the "Treated Body" exhibit, the final gallery that displays diseased organs, including some that reveal the effects of obesity on the human body.
  • Pressing health concerns like obesity, breast cancer, colon cancer, cirrhosis of the liver, arthritis, and osteoporosis are brought to life in vivid detail.
  • Did you know one out of 20 people have an extra rib? That fact and thousands of other fascinating details about the human body are revealed throughout the exhibit.
  • Allow yourself about 1&1/2 to 2 hours to visit the self-guided exhibition.
  • It's recommended that children attend the exhibit with a parent or teacher who can answer any questions that arise from seeing the graphic displays.
  • The exhibit is designed to educate and aims to have the effect of teaching children about the importance of a proper nutrition and regular physical activity.
  • A children's audio tour is available.
  • Photos are not allowed in Bodies the Exhibition.
  • Strollers need to be left with the coat check.
